The social science field is large and includes humanities and the arts. This degree allows you to study political science, English, geography, anthropology and everything in between. You will perform research, read dense texts and be very apt in interpretation and critical analysis. A social science degree opens up virtually any pathway of employment because you develop strong transferable skills like great writing skills, public speaking and learn proper methods of research. Lots of social science majors go on to supplement their education with a master’s and doctorate in their field of study, and also attend law school. There are also careers made for your discipline including becoming an anthropologist, political researcher, grant writer, book editor, historian, sociologist and everything in between.

The US Dept. of Labor reports the field for social science majors is set to increase around 8 percent in the next 5 years. This is lower than other fields but jobs are still out there if you look hard enough.
