Within the bachelor of fine arts (BFA) program is the graphic design degree which is more concentrated. This degree program will prepare students to communicate through art prints. In the graphic design program, students will be able to create images and text using computers, a crucial skill used most often for creating advertising and commercial art (i.e.billboards, logos, or publications). As a student in the graphic designer degree program, you should go in knowing how to use the basic functions of a computer and internet since they are vital tools of the field and used frequently. If not, you may consider taking a few introductory computer courses before getting into the graphic design major. Because of everyone's demanding schedule, many students are now resorting to online programs because it offers convenience and time management.  Online graphic design degrees are extensive and include ones such as advertisement, drawing, animation, color theory, typography, and many (many, many, many) more. The graphic design degree is a good choice for students who are looking for a formal education in communicating through printed art. The field of graphic design is growing fast, however, the students graduating should expect to face a competitive market but also know that having the graphic design degree will give them a leg-up in finding a position. Students may also choose to continue on with their education by pursuing a master's (master of graphic design) degree which usually last 2-5 years more.
