There are six areas of practice within the forensic sciences. These are: medical examiner, crime laboratory analyst, crime scene examiner, forensic engineer, academic assistance, and technical assistance. All these areas require a degree in forensic science. Medical examiners have the highest pay out of the six, but it also has a reason for the high pay. Medical examiners have to deal with corpses, cutting them up and performing full examinations.
