Drafting Degree
The design drafting degree is designed to help students prepare and study to become proficient in both architectural and mechanical design. Students of the drafting degree will gain experience through hands-on courses which will allow them to get actual experience using the programs and methods they will use at their future jobs. Several colleges and universities are beginning to create a fusion of design/drafting and technology (computer programs) so that the students will be able to have a well-rounded education since a majority of employers today require their employees to be somewhat tech-savvy. A technology used in this field is called Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and students can go on to make this their specialty through a CAD degree, also known as the computer drafting degree. Many students are now resorting to online programs because it offers convenience and time management. Online drafting degrees will allow students to graduate and pursue all different kinds of careers, such as architectural design or project planning, which the students will be prepared for through the courses offered and direct experience. With a solid background obtained through the courses, programs, and classes – whether online or at colleges/universities – students will have a solid foundation in design drafting – project management, 3D modeling, architectural and mechanical design (also a specialty, known as the architectural drafting degree), as well as some engineering.
